What is a Community Health Center?
Advance Community Health is one of 41 federally-funded health centers in North Carolina. A Community Health Center provides a patient-governed, patient-centered health care home that integrates high quality medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy and enabling services without regard to a person’s ability to pay. They are private, non-profit organizations that remove common barriers to care by serving communities who otherwise confront financial, geographic, language, cultural or other barriers. Advance Community Health advocates for the health of its patients and for a healthy community. We connect people – no matter their circumstances — to the resources they need. Quality care is only possible because of generous support from donors, grantors and partners that enable us to fulfill our mission of providing access to quality healthcare to the underserved.
As a non-profit Community Health Center (CHC), Advance Community Health is a valued partner to organizations that wish to improve the health of people in our community. 27% of Advance’s funding comes from HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) federal funding. This funding is tied to meeting high standards and providing a broad range of wrap-around services. Around 63% comes from patient care revenue. The remainder of Advance’s funding comes from foundations, the business community and individual donations. Advance accepts Medicare, Medicaid and private insurances.
Advance Community Health receives federal Health and Human Services (HHS) funding and has Federal Public Health Service (PHS) deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.
